SADDAM HUSSEIN IRAQI EAGLE 3601 PATEK PHILIPPE CALATRAVA

(RAAP—019)

During the mid-1970s through the early 2000s, the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq regularly commissioned Patek Philippe watches as prestigious gifts. These watches, including the Patek Philippe Reference 3601, were adorned with the Iraqi Eagle coat of arms and Saddam Hussein’s signature. They were distributed by high-ranking officials within the regime and were likely used as tools of political influence and persuasion.

The Patek Philippe Reference 3601 is a Calatrava model, characterized by its 33mm white gold case, stepped bezel, and snap back. Over time, the watch’s dial has developed a distinctive tropical appearance due to prolonged exposure to the harsh Middle Eastern sun, although the enamel signatures including that of Saddam Hussein, remain well-preserved.

The specific watch in question is noted for its extensive wear, including a polished case and a dial affected by UV light exposure. It retains its historical value, further enhanced by its original presentation box bearing Saddam Hussein’s signature. The watch is currently available for sale through a vintage watch retailer.
